SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2025 Weekend Edition New Artist Welcomed at the Museum By Sheryl Ponce Elk City’s Lacey Hulme has rediscovered her child- hood love for art and is now creating pour art. Her art- work is on display in the Route 66 Museum Complex, WOHS Education Building. All of the artwork is for sale. “I have a very short, small background in art. I love my art, and the things that I made in grade school. My mom made me feel so special with it, because she kept it around. She still has everything I made,” Hulme said. Although she has experience in clay and watercolors, she loves the pour art because the paint can be layered and some of it is blended. Hulme is not formally trained, but she went to an art class at the Carnegie Library where she learned the pour art. “I really appreciate what the library here has to offer. I don’t have that original painting for sale. That is my first one, and I am absolutely in love with it - the one I did at the library. I got the supplies and started doing it in my garage, last fall to a year ago,” she added.
