HOMETOWN HEROES PG3 Letter from Elk City police By Eddie Holland, Elk City Chief of Police The Elk City Police Department is comprised of 27 well-trained police officers, four of whom are assigned to the investigative division, as well as one school re- source officer, nine emergency 911 communications officers, three animal control officers and six reserve officers. Each individual is dedicated to the protection and safety of the people of Elk City. This is done by merging the roles of prevention and investigation of crime while maintaining high professional standards throughout the community. Their activities range from patrolling the streets 24-7 to answering emergency calls for service to investigations of violent and sometimes deadly crimes to suc- cessful prosecutions to community outreach and involvement. Our officers have chosen the career of law enforcement because they are by na- ture genuine caring and giving people.
